Margot Politis graduated as an actor from the Flinders University Drama Centre SA, with an Honours degree in Creative Arts and Drama Performance. She was then funded by the Australia Council for the Arts Dance Board to work with Adelaide’s Restless Dance Theatre – a company for performers with and without disabilities – where she stayed on for six years as a dancer, tutor, workshop facilitator, and board member.
In January 2009 she was funded by ARTS SA and The Ian Potter Cultural Trust to travel to the USA to work with disability dance company Axis Dance (California), and train in Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms (California and New York).
In October 2009 Margot returned to New York to develop solo piece Cuckoo, with renowned US choreographer Tricia Brouk (Romance and Cigarettes, Rescue Me).
Margot works as an actor, television presenter, movement teacher, choreographer and devisor of new dance work. She uses Gabrielle Roth’s 5 Rhythms combined with drama and dance practices to provide integrated workshop environments which are accessible, artistic, engaging, and professional.
