A City of Shadows and Ice- Outreach

Community Forums, Graphic Novel Workshops & Exhibition

All of Shopfront's major projects have an arm which reaches out into the community to ensure that a variety of perspectives and voices are represented in our works.

Community Forums
A City of Shadows and Ice seeks the perspectives of young people on notions of difference, belonging and separation. We will be holding a number for forums within local high schools to discuss these themes with young people and offer a chance to represent their thought through creative means such as video, writing, performance and photography.

Graphic Novel Workshops
A City of Shadows and Ice is inspired by the aesthetics of Sin City and other graphic novels. We will be creating a series of graphic novels with our community partners YouthZone, Kogarah Intensive English Centre and Creative Link (St George Youth Services) over April and May. Participants will learn to shoot their own stories on digital cameras and learn special visual effects to create graphic novel inspired artworks for the production of A City of Shadows and Ice.

Exhibition @ Kogarah Library 5th June.
Graphic Novels created during the workshops went on display at Kogarah Library, along with some ice sculptures, live music by Entropic and performance poetry.
