A Junior Ensemble Production

27 - 30 November

Junior Ensemble is always the cherry on top of an exciting year at Shopfront! Over 6 months, a group of Young People aged 11 - 14 will create a new work under the guidance of professional artists. They may be little, but they are fierce! Junior Ensemble always serves up big ideas with a spoonful of sugar. In previous years they have created an original musical, a work about mum/dad jokes and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the stage in 2025.

BLURB

In a future of AI-generated content and corporate control, movies are a thing of the past. Everyone consumes entertainment through S.L.O.P. glasses, until Molly inherits a mysterious DVD from her grandma, Sage.

With her best friends Victoria and Jade, Molly sneaks into the abandoned High Street cinema to watch the disc. There, they meet Pip, a talking projector, who reveals that Sage isn’t really dead, but trapped inside the movies by S.L.O.P.’s ruthless CEO, Mr. Bossman.

With the cinema set to be demolished the next day to make way for another one of Mr Bossman's AI content factories, time is running out. To save Sage, the three friends dive into the films: Victoria must solve a murder mystery, Jade navigates a high school rom-com, and Molly stars in a fantasy puppet musical. As they each face their fears, Mr. Bossman and his unpaid intern, Cameron, try to stop them.

But when the DVD ggets scratched and the movies start to blur together, chaos erupts. Mr. Bossman is forced to confront his past with Sage and the dream of making movies they once shared.
