Members Production
A show for our members, selected by our members, and made by our members.
Members Production Overview
● What is a Members Production?
The Shopfront Members Production is a new work, pitched by a Shopfront Member, and chosen by the Shopfront community. It is created, programmed and watched by Young People!
You can pitch any kind of work to us for a Members Production – it is all about what our community wants to see most.
● How can I be selected?
By registering your show idea. We will take your pitch idea to our Shopfront members who will vote on their favourite. The most popular idea, as selected by our members, will be turned into a Shopfront show!
● Am I ready to made a Shopfront Members Production?
This program is self-led, which means you do need to feel confident that you can create an artwork without a Shopfront staff member present at every rehearsal.
That being said, we will be there to help you every step of the way! Every year we support the development of a Shopfront Member Show project by offering mentorship, access to performance spaces, free workshops, dramaturgical support, and a season to show your work here at Shopfront! Your project can take the form of any live experience. That means it could be anything from traditional theatre, to multi-media, dance, or something else entirely! As long as it’s original, innovative, and driven by Young People in key creative roles. For this opportunity we are also only looking for works that haven’t already been produced elsewhere.
● Who can make a Shopfront Members Production?
You need to be a Shopfront member, aged 16 and over.
We welcome diversity and encourage artist submissions from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disability.
If you are nervous about pitching your ideas, or don’t know how to go about preparing your pitch registration, have no fear! We’re here to support you throughout the process. Call or email us if you have questions.
● Does the program cost money?
No!
We cover the costs of your project by providing a budget, free space, and support to realise your ideas at Shopfront.
